The first thing about me that will be established through my posts is that I firmly believe LOUNGEWEAR IS LOUNGE WEAR. No exceptions. I shudder when I see a 16-year-old slouch down the street in baggy sweats, sloppily shoved into her powder blue Uggs. Whats worse? Pajamas. The line that once neatly separated casual wear from loungewear has been completley obstructed by an army of hormones. The fact that you're having a bad week is not an excuse to show up to school in checkered PJ pants. If I had to get dressed this morning, so do you.
Anyway, I'm worried. This crazy nightmare seemed to be noticed by bigger names, and is now a legitimate trend for Spring 2009. Dolce and Gabbana released their line of designer pajamas this season. Now, granted, the line appears nice. Each silk "suit" is accompanied by a beautiful pair of heels, and nice accessories. I suppose it's not the physical garments that they released that are as horrid as the message they are sending. The trend will not be translated literally. The fashionistas that once trumped down the city streets in fabulous frocks will now be sporting pajamas claiming that Vogue told them to. Uh oh.
